How does a Product Challenge work?

  1. A CPAP manufacturer or CPAPtalk.com proposes to challenge another manufacturer's similar product.
  2. The company requesting the challenge agrees to the following basic terms and conditions
    • The Rules, Regulations, and User Agreement will be created and maintained by CPAPtalk.
    • CPAPtalk won't share individual participant information with any 3rd party.
    • Product Challenge results and reviews are inviolable.
    • CPAPtalk will administer and promote the Product Challenge.
    • CPAPtalk will make the results of the Product Challenge publicly known regardless of the outcome
  3. A company requesting a Product Challenge will provide CPAPtalk.com with a set number of complimentary products (usually 50) to be issued to the Product Challenge participants for testing purposes.
  4. CPAPtalk will locate individual participants that are using a product similar to the challenger's product, manage the selection of qualified individual participants and the overall administration of the Product Challenge.
  5. CPAPtalk will ship the challenger's product to the chosen participants.
  6. After a predetermined product trial period, CPAPtalk.com will email a Survey to each of the chosen participants which they will submit providing their opinions and ratings about both of the products in the Product Challenge.
  7. Once all of the chosen participants have completed the Survey, CPAPtalk.com will announce the results of the Product Challenge.

What happens when you enroll into a Product Challenge?
Once you enroll, your information is stored in our database of potential candidates. After a careful weighing of the data, a set number of participants (usually 50), who CPAPtalk.com judges at their sole discretion, to be suited for the Challenge, will be selected along with 5 reserve candidates. Reserve candidates will only be contacted if they are needed. Enrollment does not guarantee that an individual will actually be chosen to participate in the Product Challenge.

May I enroll in more than one Product Challenge?
Yes, you may enroll in more than one Product Challenge as long as enrollment is still open and you meet the qualifications of each particular Product Challenge.

How are individual Product Challenge participants chosen?
Participants are chosen via the data supplied during the enrollment process. Priority is given to those who have purchased the "challenged" product through confirmed channels such as CPAP.com. Additional criteria for participants may include: age, gender, prior product use, geographical location, and time of diagnosis. Other factors may be used on a case by case basis, however, said factors will in no way be used to skew, alter or in any other way adulterate the purity of the data.

What happens if you applied to be a Product Challenge participant but were NOT selected?
If you are not selected you will not be notified. We will only notify you if you are selected as an actual participant. But, we do encourage you to enroll in our future Product Challenges.

What happens if you enrolled in the Product Challenge and are selected to participate?
If you are one of the set number of individuals selected to participate in the Product Challenge you will be contacted via email. Within 3 days of that contact you must confirm that you are able to participate in the Product Challenge. Should you fail to confirm within 3 days, a reserve candidate may be chosen as your replacement. Once you have confirmed your participation in the Product Challenge, CPAPtalk.com will ship the challenger's product to the address you provided. After a predetermined product trial period (usually about 2 weeks to one month) we will e-mail you with a link to a Survey which you must complete within 5 days. Once you have completed the Survey we will compile the data and announce the results as soon as possible.

How are the results determined?
Once a Product Challenge study is complete we will post the data supplied to us by all of the respondents. There is no alteration, or obstruction, of the data. The results shown will be calculated directly from the individual participants responses.

What does the survey look like that the participants are required to complete?

If selected, may I post my reviews or opinions on the CPAPtalk Message Board ahead of the Product Challenge Results being published?
You are not allowed to post your reviews on the CPAPtalk.com Message Board prior to CPAPtalk.com making the results public. While we understand and appreciate that you may be eager to share your experiences and opinions early on in a trial with other CPAPtalk members, we ask that you save that kind of feedback and information for when you take the final CPAPtalk Product Challenge Survey at the end of the trial period. One reason for this is because you could unwittingly influence someone else's opinion who is also a selected participant in the Product Challenge. Once the Product Challenge is over and the results are made public, we certainly encourage participants to discuss openly.

Should I contact the manufacturer if there is a problem or question?
Please do not contact the manufacturer during the Product Challenge. We would like you to contact us first if there is an issue and allow us to resolve it. We do not want interaction with any of the manufacturers to potentially interfere with opinions or scores during the Product Challenge process. If you are in the Product Challenge and need help, please contact us and include detailed information about the issue as well as your name and phone number, so that we may assist you.
